Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking an experienced payroll professional to lead our Payroll team, ensuring accurate, timely payroll across Hospitals, Family and Disability Services, and Corporate portfolios. As Payroll Team Leader, you will oversee end-to-end payroll operations, support complex payroll matters and drive continuous improvements in service delivery.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in payroll, including end-to-end processing in a complex environment.
• Experience leading or mentoring team members.
• Strong knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation.
• Experience in high-volume payroll environments with multiple pay cycles.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet pre-employment checks and Right to Work verification.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of end-to-end payroll processing and payroll runs.
• Ensure payroll activities are accurate, timely and compliant.
• Interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements and guide the payroll team.
• Manage escalated payroll inquiries and issues.
• Support internal and external audit activities and compliance.
• Lead, coach and develop payroll team members with regular feedback.
• Monitor workloads and maintain service levels.
• Contribute to payroll projects and system enhancements.
