Job description

You bring you. Together, we can right wrong.

The Opportunity

As a full-time, permanent Payroll Systems Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in one of the most significant finance and people technology projects currently underway at Shine. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and based in our Brisbane CBD head office, you'll help lead the implementation of a new enterprise payroll platform while becoming our in-house expert for its ongoing management, optimisation and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who has worked within a contemporary payroll platform and has played a leading role in a payroll systems implementation, migration or major payroll systems change. You understand what's required to successfully navigate testing, validation, cutover and stabilisation, but you're equally excited by what comes next: helping a business get the most from its payroll system long after go-live.

You'll work closely with Payroll, Finance, People & Performance, IT and our implementation partners to deliver a compliant, efficient and sustainable payroll solution. Beyond implementation, you'll help shape how the enterprise payroll platform is used across the business, driving improvements, strengthening controls and ensuring we leverage the platform's full capability. While this role is based in our Brisbane CBD head office, once a fortnight (give or take) travel to our Toowoomba office will be required throughout the implementation period as you partner closely with our Payroll team and key stakeholders.

Here's how you'll help us stay ahead of the pack:
  • Supporting the successful transition of an enterprise payroll platform by contributing to payroll design, testing, payroll validation, data migration, cutover activities and business readiness.
  • Acting as Shine's payroll systems subject matter expert, providing ongoing ownership, support and optimisation of the payroll environment.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders and implementation partners to coordinate payroll configuration, integrations, workflows, reporting and system enhancements.
  • Strengthening payroll governance through effective controls, reconciliations, audit readiness, compliance and process documentation.
  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and optimise payroll processes using this enterprise payroll platform’s functionality and industry best practice.
  • Designing and delivering payroll reporting, analytics and insights that support operational effectiveness and informed decision-making.
  • Building capability across Payroll, Finance and People & Performance teams through knowledge sharing, system support and user adoption initiatives.
What you'll bring
  • Hands-on experience using contemporary payroll platforms, with strong knowledge of payroll processing, reporting, workflows, controls and system functionality.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or playing a key role in a payroll system implementation, migration or major payroll systems project.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and the interaction between payroll, tax, superannuation, leave, banking and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience coordinating testing activities, payroll validation, reconciliations, parallel pay runs and system readiness activities.
  • The ability to partner effectively with Payroll, Finance, People & Performance, IT and external vendors to deliver outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to challenge constructively where process improvements can deliver better outcomes.
