Job summary

C3Talent in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Payroll Systems Specialist to join a major transformation program. You will act as the functional SME across payroll systems, working with Payroll, Finance, HR, IT and project teams to guide how changes affect payroll processes and data.

This role is not routine payroll processing; it focuses on integrations, configuration, testing and ensuring data integrity during system changes. Aurion experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll systems (Aurion or similar) and strong SME capability.
• Ability to act as functional SME for payroll systems during transformation.
• Experience across payroll integrations, configuration and reporting.
• Exposure to HRIS/payroll transformation or systems projects.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and downstream system impacts.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Payroll Systems Specialist to join a major business transformation program.

Working across Payroll, Finance, HR, IT and project teams, you will act as the Payroll Systems SME, providing functional expertise as new systems, integrations and enhancements are introduced.

This is not a BAU payroll processing role or a system implementation. The focus is on understanding how system changes impact payroll systems, processes and the broader business.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the functional SME for payroll systems
• Support payroll system integrations, configuration and reporting
• Assess the payroll impact of system and process changes
• Support testing, enhancements and implementation activities
• Troubleshoot complex payroll system and integration issues
• Partner with Payroll, Finance, HR, IT and project stakeholders
• Maintain payroll accuracy, data integrity and compliance throughout system changes

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Extensive hands‑on payroll systems experience (Aurion or similar advantageous)
• Strong payroll systems capability, ideally as a systems super‑user or SME
• Experience across payroll integrations, configuration and reporting
• Exposure to HRIS/payroll transformation or systems projects
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and downstream system impacts
• Strong stakeholder engagement and problem‑solving skills

Previous Aurion implementation experience is not essential. Strong payroll systems knowledge and the ability to apply that expertise within a transformation environment are the priority.
