Job summary

Alstom in Melbourne is looking for a Payroll Specialist I to join a large workforce, delivering accurate and compliant end-to-end payroll services. The role emphasizes timely processing, data integrity, and collaboration within the payroll team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive SAP experience (SAP GlobalView a plus), familiarity with EBAs, and strong Excel skills, while adhering to Australian payroll legislation and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in a related field is required.
• Extensive payroll processing experience in a large workforce environment (ideally >1,000 employees).
• Strong payroll systems expertise, especially SAP; SAP GlobalView knowledge is highly regarded.
• Experience with EBAs in manufacturing or industrial settings is valued.
• Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of Australian payroll legislation.
• Excellent attention to detail, discretion and confidentiality.
• Onboarding may include Drug & Alcohol Test and National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Resolve payroll queries within SLAs and escalate complex matters as needed.
• Coordinate maintenance and improvement of third-party system interfaces, including benefits providers.
• Review and validate payroll data for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Provide guidance and share payroll knowledge with team members.
• Review and maintain work instructions to stay accurate and compliant.
• Identify and submit change requests to adapt to evolving policies and processes.
• Identify payroll issues and implement effective solutions.
• Assist with audits and compliance activities related to tax, superannuation and legislation.
• Support timely payroll processing and ensure consistent accuracy.
