Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced payroll professional to lead payroll operations and compliance in Brisbane. The role focuses on managing outsourced payroll relationships, ensuring legislative compliance, and driving continuous improvement across payroll processes.

You will coordinate with stakeholders, monitor changes in Australian payroll law, and support year-end activities while enabling a flexible work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of Australian payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards, superannuation, payroll tax and STP.
  • Experience with outsourced payroll providers or governance/advisory roles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication.
  • High attention to detail and proactive compliance.
  • Ability to implement updates due to legislative changes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationship with outsourced payroll provider.
  • Review payroll outputs, reconciliations, and reports before approval.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards, superannuation, payroll tax, and STP requirements.
  • Monitor legislative changes and coordinate the implementation of required updates.
  • Oversee payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, and end-of-year processes.
  • Support payroll audits, governance requirements, and compliance activities.
  • Act as the key point of contact for payroll-related queries and escalations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure payroll requirements are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, procedures, and reporting requirements.
