Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a Team Leader Remuneration and Benefits to steer the payroll and remuneration function across a workforce of 1300+. You will report to the CFO, provide expert payroll guidance, and lead a dedicated team while driving system and process improvements.

The role combines technical payroll expertise with leadership, compliance, and strategic workforce initiatives to support accurate, timely, and employee-centred payroll services.

Qualifications

• Diploma level qualifications or significant relevant experience in payroll
• Experience leading payroll operations in a complex, high-volume environment
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and statutory reporting requirements
• Experience interpreting and applying awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy, compliance and risk management
• Experience implementing system improvements and driving continuous improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

• Lead Council's payroll and remuneration function for 1300+ employees, delivering end-to-end payroll services
• Provide specialist payroll expertise, advise on payroll legislation and compliance, drive improvements in systems and processes

Education

Diploma level qualifications in Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline
