Job summary

Metro Trains Melbourne is seeking a Payroll Officer to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including wages, allowances, leave, and separations. You will input data from timesheets and rosters and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with agreements and policies.

Qualifications

• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume payroll processing environment.
• Strong service-oriented approach and ability to handle confidential information.
• Knowledge of industrial awards, industrial relations and WorkCover.
• Experience interpreting industry agreements and translating into timekeeping practices.
• Knowledge of payroll software and rostering systems.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with third party providers and internal stakeholders to collate and review data for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Prepare and input daily and/or weekly payroll information from timesheets and rosters.
• Complete payroll processing and respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
• Maintain all pay related transactions and employment history in line with policies and legislation.
• Input manual time and absence data for the fortnightly payroll cycle.
• Handle payroll exceptions during processing and support audit requirements.
• Interpret employer/employee agreements to ensure correct payments and accurate masterfile data.
• Provide information to external authorities (ATO, Centrelink, super funds) for accurate processing.
