Job summary

Journey Early Learning – Macquarie Park NSW is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our Support Office team. You will process payroll accurately, maintain records, resolve queries, and support continuous improvements. The role offers growth within a collaborative, values-driven organisation.

With 2–3 years' payroll experience, you will contribute to a responsive service across our network of early learning centres and collaborate with People & Culture and other teams.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in payroll or a similar role.
• Experience supporting end-to-end payroll processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence with payroll data.
• Willingness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working.
• Collaborative approach and positive stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end payroll processing and ensure employees are paid on time.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records and data.
• Respond to payroll queries with clear guidance to employees and leaders.
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
• Complete payroll reconciliations, reporting and data checks.
• Use Excel to manage, analyse and maintain payroll information.
• Support payroll compliance and ensure processes are followed.
• Contribute to payroll process improvements and system enhancements.

Are you a Payroll Officer who takes pride in getting the details right, enjoys supporting people and is ready to take ownership of your work?

Journey Early Learning is looking for a Payroll Officer to join our Support Office team. This is an opportunity to bring your payroll experience into a collaborative environment where you'll play an important role in supporting our people across Journey's growing network of early learning centres.

About the Role

As our Payroll Officer, you'll support the accurate and timely processing of payroll while providing a responsive and people-focused service to employees and leaders across the organisation.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Supporting end-to-end payroll processing and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
• Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and data
• Responding to payroll queries and providing clear support to employees and leaders
• Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies and issues
• Completing payroll reconciliations, reporting and data checks
• Using Excel to manage, analyse and maintain payroll information
• Supporting payroll compliance and ensuring processes are followed accurately
• Contributing to payroll process improvements and system enhancements
• Working collaboratively with People & Culture and other Support Office teams

About You

We’re looking for a Payroll Officer with 2–3 years' experience who is confident in their payroll knowledge and excited to continue learning and developing.

You’ll bring:

• 2–3 years' experience in payroll or a similar role
• Experience supporting end-to-end payroll processes
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership and responsibility
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with employees and stakeholders
• A willingness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working
• A collaborative approach and genuine interest in contributing to a positive team culture

Experience with Employment Hero will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
