Job summary

Explorepotential is seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to manage payroll, financial administration and month-end processes within a not-for-profit context. This role reports to the Senior Finance Manager and emphasizes accuracy, ownership and continuous improvement.

You will handle end-to-end payroll, financial reporting, BAS and compliance, while supporting budgeting and external audits in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping (or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years' experience in a finance, bookkeeping or payroll role.
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing.
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
  • Bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • General ledger maintenance, journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Month-end processing and financial reporting.
  • BAS and statutory reporting preparation.
  • Payroll compliance, superannuation and award interpretation.
  • Fixed asset register maintenance.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Audit preparation and external audit support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance systems and processes.
  • Provide proactive finance support to internal stakeholders.

We’re seeking a motivated finance professional to join our collaborative team, taking ownership of payroll, financial administration and month-end processes within a well-established not-for-profit organisation. About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time while supporting financial reporting, compliance and organisational decision-making.

This is a varied, hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys working autonomously, has exceptional attention to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable

About You

You are an organised and proactive finance professional who enjoys taking ownership of your work and building positive relationships across an organisation.

You’ll ideally bring:
  • Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a finance, bookkeeping or payroll position
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger processes
  • Experience completing reconciliations, journals and month-end reporting
  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills
Highly Regarded
  • MYOB Accounting and Payroll experience
  • Experience within the not-for-profit sector
  • BAS preparation and statutory reporting
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
  • Experience supporting external audits
  • Experience improving finance systems and business processes
