Job summary

Veritas Recruitment is seeking a capable Payroll Officer/Coordinator for a national payroll function servicing over 1,400 employees from a Mt Waverley base. The role involves hands-on payroll duties beyond processing, with strong potential to contribute to process improvements.

The successful candidate will manage end-to-end payroll activities, work within a supportive team, and enjoy a hybrid work arrangement after completing training, with onsite parking available.

The role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this is a hands‑on payroll position where you’ll be involved in much more than simply processing a pay run.

You’ll manage payroll activity across 1,400+ employees, including starters, terminations, variations, adjustments and parental leave payments, while also getting involved in:

• Payroll reporting and audits
• Superannuation and Payday Super
• Payroll tax, PAYG and statutory payments
• Month-end reconciliations and payroll GLs
• Leave liabilities and remuneration reporting
• Payroll queries
• New starter administration
• Garnishees and other statutory requirements
• Payroll audits and improvement projects

About you

• You will have end to end payroll experience
• Have strong attention to detail and a good understanding of payroll administration and statutory requirements.
• You’re organised, proactive and comfortable working to deadlines.
• You enjoy being part of a team, but you’re also confident taking ownership of your work and solving problems when they arise.
• Intermediate Excel skills are important, but your attitude, reliability and payroll capability are what will really set you apart.
