Job summary

GenesisCare in Central Adelaide is seeking a compassionate Patient Services Officer (Medical Receptionist) to join our teams on a full-time, 12-month contract. You will be the first point of contact, welcoming patients and supporting a seamless patient journey.

As part of the role, you will manage appointments, referrals, and billing tasks, support clinicians, and uphold patient privacy with a proactive, empathetic approach to care. Healthcare experience is valued but not essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in administration, reception, healthcare, or customer service roles.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for helping people.
• A caring, empathetic, and professional approach when interacting with patients and their families.
• Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• Confidence using computer systems and navigating multiple software platforms.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or medical reception environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, carers, and visitors with professionalism, empathy, and warmth.
• Manage patient appointments and clinic schedules.
• Respond to patient enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
• Receive and process referrals accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and maintain patient records and administrative documentation.
• Assist with billing activities, Medicare processing, fee estimates, and private health fund administration.
• Work closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support daily operations.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in line with healthcare standards.
• Provide flexible administrative support to meet operational requirements.
