Job summary

Healius is seeking an experienced Scientific Officer to join our diagnostic laboratory team. You will perform manual and automated testing, manage specimen workflows, maintain QC/QAP standards and support continuous quality improvement.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science, demonstrate independence, strong problem-solving and a meticulous approach, and can work effectively in a busy pathology environment, including adherence to immunisation

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
• Experience and skills in routine diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures.
• Strong knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B.

Responsibilities

• Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
• Performing all routine procedures from specimen reception to results for Pathological diagnosis
• Assisting with Stock Control
• Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
• Maintaining all equipment and operating protocols
• Participating in Quality Assurance activities
• Contributing to development of new assays as required
• Training staff
• Liaising with internal/external stakeholders regarding test results
