Job summary

KE Select is partnering with a well-established private pathology organisation in the Newcastle region seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager. The role oversees laboratory operations across Gateshead and Maitland locations, balancing hands-on technical leadership with staff development and operational coordination.

The ideal candidate will have a medical laboratory science degree or equivalent, 5+ years as a Senior Medical Scientist, and strong expertise across Haematology, Coagulation,

Qualifications

• A degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum five years as a Senior Medical Scientist in clinical pathology.
• Strong knowledge across Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Blood Bank and Microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and service delivery.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple disciplines.
• Lead staff, rostering, and workload allocation.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with pathologists and management to meet objectives.
• Build stakeholder relationships and ensure high-quality diagnostic results.
