Job summary

Dorevitch Pathology in Traralgon is seeking a Casual Laboratory Assistant to join our busy specimen reception team. You will help with accurate processing, data entry and dispatch of specimens, supporting turnaround times and reliable results for clinicians.

The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 laboratory environment, with training provided and a strong focus on accuracy, teamwork and safety in line with WHS policies.

Qualifications

• Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential.
• Qualifications in pathology, laboratory skills or laboratory techniques are desirable but not essential.
• Experience in healthcare, data entry or roles requiring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with a high level of accuracy
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens into laboratory systems
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating where required
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow laboratory procedures
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe working environment
