Job summary

Dorevitch Pathology in Traralgon is seeking a casual Laboratory Assistant to support specimen reception and processing. The role involves accurate data entry, registration and timely dispatch of specimens, with shifts on a 24/7 basis and training provided across shift types.

This CAS role offers exposure to a busy diagnostic lab and opportunities to grow in pathology. The ideal candidate will bring a keen eye for detail, good organisational skills and the ability to work calmly in a busy team

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential.
• Qualifications in pathology or laboratory skills are desirable but not essential.
• Experience in healthcare, data entry or roles requiring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with a high level of accuracy.
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens into laboratory systems.
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes.
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating where required.
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections.
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes.
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow laboratory procedures.
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe working environment.
