Qualifications

Job description

Beaconsfield Village Bakehouse is seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Chef to join our team on a full-time basis in Beaconsfield, VIC 3807.

This is an opportunity to bring your baking skills and creativity to a busy bakery. You will help produce high-quality pastries, cakes and sweet goods, maintaining the freshness, consistency and presentation our customers expect.

What you’ll be doing
  • Preparing and baking pastries, cakes and sweet goods according to established recipes and quality standards.

  • Contributing ideas for new recipes and seasonal products.

  • Ensuring products meet our standards for taste, appearance and presentation.

  • Operating and caring for bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers and proofing equipment.

  • Monitoring ingredient levels, rotating stock and communicating ordering requirements.

  • Following food hygiene, safety and allergen procedures at all times.

  • Working early morning shifts to ensure products are ready for daily service.

  • Collaborating with the team to meet production targets and customer orders.

  • Maintaining a clean and organised workstation and bakery kitchen.

  • Minimising waste through careful preparation and appropriate storage.

What we’re looking for
  • 1–2 years of previous experience as a pastry chef in a bakery, café, patisserie or similar setting.

  • A trade qualification or recognised certification in baking or patisserie, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

  • Sound knowledge of baking techniques, fermentation and pastry production.

  • A good understanding of ingredients and their use in baking.

  • Confidence operating commercial baking equipment and tools.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products.

  • Ability to work in a busy environment and manage tasks efficiently.

  • Flexibility to work early morning shifts and weekends as required.

  • A reliable, cooperative approach and good communication skills.

  • A willingness to learn, develop your skills and contribute ideas.
