Working closely with our kitchen team, you'll prepare and produce high-quality pastries, cakes and other sweet and savoury pastry products.
Preparing, baking, and finishing a range of pastries, cakes, desserts and other baked goods.
Measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients to ensure consistency and product quality.
Operate and maintain bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens and other specialised tools used for mixing, moulding and baking bakery products.
Mixing, kneading, proving, shaping, moulding and cutting a range of dough and pastry products.
Prepare and cook sweet and savoury pastry fillings, creams and glazes, and decorate cakes, tarts and slices with icing, cream, glaze or other finishes as required.
Overseeing batches from shaping and loading through to unloading, de-panning and cooling, including glazing buns and pastries and finishing cakes with cream and icing.
Monitoring oven temperatures and baking times to ensure products are baked to perfection.
Maintain consistent product quality, appearance, texture and portion control across daily production
Operating commercial pastry and baking equipment safely and effectively.
Assessing the quality of incoming ingredients and measuring them out accurately for each batch
Following recipes, production schedules, quality standards and food safety procedures.
Cleaning, greasing and resetting trays, tins and other bakeware between production runs.
Carrying out pre-shift checks on equipment and work areas to keep the kitchen safe and OH&S-compliant.
Train, supervise and mentoring junior kitchen staff where required.
We're looking for someone who:
Formal training or qualifications in Patisserie or Commercial Cookery.
At least 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Pastry Chef.
Strong practical knowledge of pastry preparation, baking processes and product finishing.
Experience using commercial baking equipment and tools safely.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products.
Good time management skills and the ability to work efficiently during early morning production.
The ability to follow recipes, instructions and food safety procedures.
A positive, reliable and proactive attitude.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
