Job summary

Goulburn Valley Creamery in Kyabram, Victoria, is seeking a Pasteurisation Operator to operate and monitor the pasteuriser and related equipment, ensuring products meet quality, safety and specification standards.   • More than two years' experience as a Pasteurisation Operator or in a comparable dairy or food manufacturing role.
  • Year 12 completion is preferred.
  • Certificate III or above in Food Processing or Process Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is highly regarded.
  • Forklift licence is highly regarded.
  • Current Australian driver's licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the pasteuriser and manufacturing equipment to meet quality, food safety and product specifications.
  • Monitor the dairy production process and follow standard operating procedures for batching and processing products.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate production records, area records and required paperwork.
  • Monitor fats, total solids, allergens, extraneous water and other processing-related requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating issues.
  • Verify process charts, including frequency pen records, cut‑in and cut‑out temperatures, and product recording temperatures.
  • Operate equipment at recommended speeds and escalate mechanical or operational issues promptly.
  • Clean and sanitise equipment with urgency to maximise throughput and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain clear communication with other departments, management and employees regarding issues that may affect production efficiency.
  • Review process and equipment performance data to support improvements in quality, throughput and troubleshooting.

Job description

Goulburn Valley Creamery is a new liquid milk processing plant situated in the Goulburn Valley. We are building a capable, practical and improvement-focused team committed to doing things properly, solving problems at the source and creating a positive workplace culture.

Position Purpose

The Pasteurisation Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the milk pasteuriser and related manufacturing equipment to ensure products are processed safely, efficiently and in line with quality, food safety and product specifications.

The Role

Full Time position

Roster: 48 hours a week, day and night shift

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain the pasteuriser and manufacturing equipment to meet quality, food safety and product specifications.

Monitor the dairy production process and follow standard operating procedures for batching and processing products.

Key Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience operating pasteurisation, dairy processing or comparable food manufacturing equipment in a production environment.

Sound understanding of Food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standard operating procedures and quality requirements.

Ability to accurately monitor, record and verify processing information, including temperatures, charts, product specifications and production paperwork.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, **escalate** and help resolve basic to moderate operational or equipment issues.

Good mathematical, communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across shifts and departments.

Willingness and flexibility to work rotating 12‑hour shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays as operationally required.

Commitment to safe work practices, equipment hygiene, cleaning and sanitising requirements in a dairy manufacturing environment.
