Job summary

Ventia is seeking an experienced Base Operations Manager to lead the delivery of Property and Asset Services across Garden Island, WA Defence base. You will oversee large, geographically dispersed teams, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient maintenance and operational services in a high-stakes environment.

The role requires a strong background in defence or facilities management, with a proven track record in safety leadership, budget control and delivering KPIs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in a senior operations, facilities, maintenance or asset management leadership role.
• Proven experience leading large and geographically dispersed operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance and safety leadership.
• Experience managing financial performance, budgets and commercial outcomes.
• Demonstrated success delivering operational KPIs in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and operational services across Defence sites, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery.
• Drive operational performance, productivity targets and contract compliance outcomes.
• Lead emergency management, business continuity planning and critical incident response activities.
• Manage contractor performance, audits and governance requirements to achieve contractual obligations.
• Deliver continuous improvement, digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives.
• Maximise commercial performance and ensure all claimable contract opportunities are realised.
• Champion a proactive safety culture and oversee incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, legislative and Defence contractual requirements.
• Support sustainability objectives through quality, governance and environmental best practices.
• Build strong relationships with Defence, customers, industry partners and key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop maintenance and supervisory teams while driving engagement and performance.
• Foster workforce capability, succession planning, diversity and a collaborative Team of Teams culture.

Ventia is seeking an experienced Base Operations Manager to lead the delivery of Property and Asset Services (PAS) across the Garden Island, WA Defence base. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a results-driven operations professional with a strong background in maintenance, facilities, asset management, Defence services, or complex operational environments.

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of maintenance and operational services across geographically dispersed Defence locations, while leading large technical teams, driving commercial outcomes, and fostering a high-performance culture.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

• 7+ years' experience in a senior operations, facilities, maintenance or asset management leadership role
• Proven experience leading large and geographically dispersed operational teams
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance and safety leadership
• Experience managing financial performance, budgets and commercial outcomes
• Demonstrated success delivering operational KPIs in complex environments
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, leadership and strategic planning capabilities
• Experience within Defence, infrastructure, utilities, facilities management or a related industry will be highly regarded
• Engineering qualification or trade background desirable but not essential
• Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a minimum NV1 Defence Security Clearance
