Job summary

Northern Health in Melbourne’s rapidly growing region is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Central Specimen Reception team. You will receive, sort and transport specimens and assist with registering requests in the laboratory information system.

This ongoing part-time role includes permanent overnight shifts, weekend/public holiday work, and participation in the on-call roster, with opportunities to contribute to high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience and good working knowledge of data entry and general laboratory tasks.
• Proven ability to work as a part of team.
• Demonstrated ability to work an overnight shift that involves working weekends and public holidays.
• Participate in the on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• This role will be responsible for the receiving, sorting, preparing and transport of specimens for analysis; assisting with the registration of pathology requests into the laboratory information system; performing laboratory investigations and general laboratory duties as directed by senior staff.
