Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Central Specimen Reception team. You will receive, sort, prepare and transport specimens for analysis, and help register requests in the laboratory information system.

This ongoing part-time role involves 40 hours per fortnight with an overnight shift, weekends and public holidays, and participation in the on-call roster. The position supports six campuses across Melbourne’s northern region and offers staff benefits and development

Qualifications

• Experience and good working knowledge of data entry and general laboratory tasks.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to work an overnight shift that involves weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, sorting, preparing and transporting specimens for analysis.
• Registering pathology requests into the laboratory information system.
• Performing laboratory investigations and general duties as directed by senior staff.
