Job summary

Geelong Grammar School invites applications for a part-time fixed-term role as Teacher of Music & Coordinator of Keyboard and Accompaniment, commencing January 2027. You will teach classroom instrumental music to Middle and Senior school students and coordinate the co-curricular Keyboard and Accompaniment Programme across all campuses.

The role requires organizing and administrating the programme, coordinating rehearsals and performances, and contributing to the school’s music calendar.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated coordination experience in music and/or performing arts.
• Experience working within a school-based music or performing arts environment.
• Familiarity with examination and accreditation bodies such as AMEB, ANZCA, and Trinity.
• Experience supporting scholarship recipients and high-performance students.
• Proven pedagogical and performance credentials.
• Extensive ensemble leadership experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
• Preparation, management and monitoring of budget allocation.
• Sound understanding of child safety, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more instruments through individual or group music lessons.
• Teach ensembles as part of the Ensemble Programme, including the Middle School Music Programme.
• Coordinate rehearsals, lesson and accompanist scheduling across campuses.
• Lead and deliver internal school performances across campuses.
• Oversee maintenance and management of school instruments and repertoire.
• Support development and evaluation of a music curriculum.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget allocation for the instrument family.
• Recruit and support specialist music tutors.
• Coordinate Australian Music Examinations Board enrolments and related administration.
