Job summary

Respect's Emerald Avalon Care community is seeking a Part-time Food Services Assistant to join our not-for-profit aged care team in regional Queensland. You’ll work with the Chef to prepare and serve meals for residents, while upholding food safety standards and ensuring the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly.

You’ll contribute to menu planning, assist with dining service, and may support laundry and cleaning duties.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Food Handling Course.
• Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Previous experience in residential aged care food services.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
• A compassionate and respectful approach to aged care.

Responsibilities

• Support menu planning to reflect residents’ needs, preferences, and dietary requirements.
• Prepare, serve, and present meals and refreshments in line with the Food Safety Program.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, including general cleaning and safe food handling practices.
• Monitor and record food safety requirements, including temperatures and goods received.
• Deliver meals with a friendly, respectful approach and report any food or beverage concerns to the Registered Nurse in Charge.
