Job summary

1300SMILES Cairns Central is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join our established Cairns practice. You’ll provide chairside support across general, preventative and cosmetic dentistry, including aligners and extractions, while helping the clinicians run a smooth clinic.

You’ll prepare treatment rooms, sterilise instruments and maintain infection control, keep areas clean and stocked, and support patients to feel comfortable throughout their visit.

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Dental Assisting or 2+ years experience.
• Knowledge of sterilisation and infection control procedures.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and practice software.
• Calm, friendly approach with patients; detail-oriented.
• Able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
• Reliable, team-focused with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance across a range of dental procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and equipment.
• Clean, sterilise and maintain instruments in line with infection control requirements.
• Keep clinical areas clean, organised and well stocked.
• Support dentists and the wider clinical team during appointments.
• Help patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout their visit.
• Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the clinical area.
