Job summary

1300SMILES Cairns Central is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant for part-time, chairside support in a busy Cairns practice. You will assist clinicians across general, preventative and cosmetic treatment, and help keep rooms prepared and well stocked.

The role requires a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or two years' experience), strong infection control knowledge, and friendly patient care. Work hours are 8:15am–5:15pm with a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting, or at least two years' dental assisting experience
• Sound knowledge of sterilisation and infection control procedures
• Familiarity with dental terminology, procedures and practice software
• A calm and friendly approach when working with patients
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
• A reliable, team-focused approach and clear communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance across a range of dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and equipment
• Clean, sterilise and maintain instruments in line with infection control requirements
• Keep clinical areas clean, organised and well stocked
• Support dentists and the wider clinical team during appointments
• Help patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout their visit
• Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the clinical area
