Job summary

Warrumbungle Shire Council is seeking an experienced Building Certifier to join our Planning and Regulation team on a part-time basis for up to three months. The role covers building assessments, inspections, compliance matters and providing customer advice to ensure development across the Shire is safe and compliant.

The successful candidate will assess certificate applications, conduct inspections, prepare reports and recommendations, and support our Trainee Building Certifier.

Qualifications

• Accreditation as a Building Certifier (Class A or B) under NSW acts is required.
• Experience in building certification, surveying, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Assess applications for construction, complying development and occupation certificates.
• Conduct inspections of building works at various stages of construction.
• Provide practical advice to applicants, builders, developers and the community.
• Investigate complaints and compliance matters and take appropriate action.
• Prepare reports, notices and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement in certification services.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Promote WHS compliance and safe work practices.
• Provide support and supervision for Trainee Building Certifier.
