Job summary

The Catering Group is seeking a talented Cafe Chef to join the team at Awaba House in Booragul, NSW. This part-time position offers an opportunity to showcase culinary skills in a welcoming café environment, delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer experiences.

You will prepare and cook a range of café dishes, maintain food safety, manage inventory, and support menu development while working with a friendly team in a dynamic hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Cafe Chef or similar in hospitality.
• Knowledge of cafe-style dishes and food preparation.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and best practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
• Flexible shifts including mornings, afternoons, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of café dishes, including breakfast items, lunch specials, pastries, and hot and cold beverages, adhering to quality and presentation standards.
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in all food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Manage food inventory, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and maintaining organised storage systems.
• Work efficiently during peak service times, managing multiple orders whilst maintaining food quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Prepare ingredients in advance, including chopping, marinating, and portioning, to optimise service efficiency.
• Maintain and care for kitchen equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance issues promptly.
• Contribute to menu development and suggestions for seasonal or special dishes.
• Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
