Job summary

MacKillop Family Services in Blacktown, NSW, is seeking a Part-time (0.8 EFT) Family Time Facilitator and Mentor to supervise birth family contact for children in out-of-home care and support relationship-building with their birth families. The role requires dedication to safety, trauma-informed practice and reporting on visits.

You will work within the Permanency Support Program, reporting to the Senior Contact Worker, and contribute to ongoing career development and staff support

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in supervised contact, out of home care, children's services, youth work or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development, the impact of trauma, and the indicators of child abuse.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour; and prevent and/or de-escalate crisis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and report on birth family contact visits.
• Provide supervised birth family contact to children and young people in out of home care.
• Support relationship-building between children, young people and their birth families in a safe environment.
