Job summary

Apollo Care Alliance is seeking a Part-Time Cook to deliver high-quality meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, preferences and health requirements in our aged care setting in Queensland. The role reports to the Chef and involves preparing nutritious meals while complying with Aged Care Quality Standards and regulatory requirements.

You'll prepare a variety of meals, manage special diets, engage with residents to tailor menus, and work with the catering team to ensure safe, consistent food

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (desirable but not essential).
• Minimum years experience in a hospitality Cook background.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the team and engage positively with residents.
• NDIS Workers Check, or willing to obtain - Mandatory
• Compassion and Empathy.
• Hospitality experience in an Aged Care setting or fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding of resident rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes (highly regarded but not essential)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including main dishes, soups, sandwiches, salads, and AM/PM teas, in line with the menu.
• Apply basic cooking methods such as baking, frying and steaming.
• Prepare and serve nutritious, appetizing meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents.
• Engage with residents to understand and cater to their individual dietary preferences and requirements.
• Manage special diets, including texture-modified meals, following best-practice standards.
• Participate in menu planning to ensure meals align with the Australian dietary guidelines for older adults.
• Ensure strict compliance with HACCP food safety standards and all relevant regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with the catering team to deliver safe, consistent and high-quality food services.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work area at all times.
• Monitor and manage food costs to ensure operations remain within budget.
