Inner West Council invites applications for a temporary full‑time Parks Project Manager to shape high‑quality open spaces. You’ll lead capital works from concept to completion, coordinating consultants, contractors and stakeholders to deliver parks, sportsfields, gardens and open spaces that are inclusive and climate‑responsive.

This hands‑on role requires strong design, procurement and contract administration skills, with an emphasis on safety, timeliness and budget adherence.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in capital works delivery from investigation to completion.
  • Well developed procurement and project management skills.
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, project management software and CAD.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of parks, recreation and landscape capital works projects from concept through to completion.
  • Balance technical rigour with community outcomes and ensure safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
  • Manage investigations, scoping, design, approvals, procurement, contract administration, and on‑site delivery.

About the role

AsParks Project Manager,you’ll play a key role in shaping high‑quality, sustainable open spaces across the Inner West. Reporting to the Coordinator Parks Projects and working within Council’s Capital Works team, you’ll lead the delivery of parks, recreation and landscape capital works projects from concept through to completion.

This is a hands‑on project management role where you’ll balance technical rigour with strong community outcomes. You’ll manage investigations, scoping, design, approvals, procurement, contract administration and on‑site delivery, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and in line with Council’s Community Strategic Plan.

You’ll work closely with consultants, contractors, internal stakeholders and the local community to deliver parks, sportsfields, gardens and open space upgrades that are functional, inclusive, climate‑responsive and well‑loved. From overseeing tender processes and supervising construction works on site to responding to community feedback and contributing to strategic improvements, this role offers a genuine end‑to‑end project lifecycle.

This position will suit a landscape architect, civil engineer or experienced capital works project manager who enjoys variety, values collaboration, and is motivated by delivering visible, lasting outcomes for the community.

Remuneration

$103,079 - $137,420 + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering OR equivalent industry experience in capital works delivery.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in the investigation, evaluation, design and specification of capital works infrastructure to relevant industry standards, codes and legislation
  • Well developed procurement and project management skills
  • Computer skills, including demonstrated experience with word processing, spreadsheets, project management software and CAD.
  • Class C Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence.
