Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council – Whitsundays QLD is seeking two Open Spaces Maintenance Officers to join the Open Spaces and Cemeteries team at the Cannonvale Depot. If you enjoy outdoor work maintaining parks and public spaces, join a team that helps keep the Whitsunday region looking its best.

This hands-on role covers mowing, garden bed care, park infrastructure upkeep, minor repairs and operation of council vehicles and small plant.

Qualifications

• A current MR Driver Licence, or willingness and ability to obtain one.
• A General Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card).
• Physical capability to safely undertake outdoor labouring and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience operating ride-on mowers and brushcutters is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking mowing, brush cutting, edging, vegetation control, litter collection and general open space maintenance.
• Maintaining and developing garden beds and streetscapes through planting, mulching, pruning, watering and weed control.
• Installing, inspecting and maintaining park infrastructure (furniture, signs, fences, guideposts, bollards and bins).
• Completing minor repairs, painting, pressure cleaning, graffiti removal and basic carpentry within your skills.
• Operating and caring for Council vehicles and equipment (trucks, trailers, ride-on mowers, brushcutters).
• Recording completed works and defects and supporting wider Open Spaces activities.
