Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking two Open Spaces Maintenance Officers for the Cannonvale Depot to maintain parks, gardens and public spaces across Jubilee Pocket to Shute Harbour. This hands-on role contributes to presentation, safety and functionality of Council spaces.

The successful candidates will join a supportive Open Spaces and Cemeteries team, performing mowing, gardening and minor repairs while operating council vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• A current MR Driver Licence or ability to obtain one.
• A General Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card).
• Proven physical ability to perform outdoor labouring and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience operating ride-on mowers and brushcutters is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking mowing, brush cutting, edging, vegetation control and litter collection.
• Maintaining garden beds and streetscapes through planting, mulching, pruning and watering.
• Installing and maintaining park furniture, signs, fences, guideposts, bollards and bins.
• Completing minor repairs, painting, pressure cleaning and graffiti removal.
• Operating and caring for Council vehicles and equipment.
• Documenting completed works and reporting defects.
