Job summary

CBCity’s City of Canterbury Bankstown invites applications for a Parks Assistant in the Parks Unit. You will support maintenance of parks, sports fields, nature strips and open space assets, working in a small team with a focus on service delivery and safety.

The role is permanent full-time, with duties including risk assessments, timely completion of works, and operation of park equipment. The position offers a Four-Day Week Pilot and growth opportunities within the council.

Qualifications

• Current Class C Drivers Licence.
• Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience in Parks & Open Space maintenance.
• Skills & experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, sports fields, nature strips and open space areas per service requirements and rosters.
• Undertake risk and hazard assessments and take corrective action where necessary.
• Ensure all works are completed within timeframes.
• Identify and report landscape deficiencies in parks maintenance.
• Operate plant & equipment including mowers, brush cutters, edgers, blowers and related tools.
• Operate minor plant items/hand tools as required.
• Collect litter and clean park amenities.
• Report equipment faults and failures.
