Job summary

The City of Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking a dedicated Parks Assistant to join the Parks Unit in Bankstown, NSW. You will help maintain parks, sports fields, nature strips and other open spaces to meet service requirements.

This permanent full‑time role involves operating plant and hand tools, performing risk assessments, and reporting faults while contributing to a safe, well‑presented environment for the community.

Qualifications

• Must have a current Class C Drivers Licence.
• Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience in Parks & Open Space maintenance.
• Skills & experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, sports fields, nature strips and other open space areas in line with service requirements and rosters.
• Undertake risk and hazard assessments and take corrective action when needed.
• Ensure all works are completed within timeframes.
• Identify and report landscape deficiencies in parks maintenance.
• Operate plant and equipment including mowers, brush cutters, edgers, blowers and related tools.
• Collect litter and clean park amenities; report equipment faults and failures.
