Job summary

The City of Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking a Parks Assistant to join the Parks Unit in Panania NSW. You will work in a small team maintaining parks, sports fields, nature strips and other open space assets.

This permanent full-time role includes a Four-Day Work Week Pilot with a 36-hour week, 6:00am–4:00pm scheduling, and salary starting at AU$61,112 plus AWACA and 12% super.

Qualifications

• Experience in Parks & Open Space maintenance.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.
• Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent.
• Skills and experience to fulfil the role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, sports fields, nature strips and open space areas as per service requirements and rosters.
• Undertake risk and hazard assessments and take corrective action when needed.
• Ensure works are completed within timeframes.
• Identify and report landscape deficiencies, especially in parks maintenance.
• Operate plant and equipment (mowers, brush cutters, edgers, blowers) as required.
• Operate minor plant items/hand tools.
• Collect litter and clean park amenities.
• Report equipment faults and failures.
