Job summary

Blacktown City Council is looking for a Parks and Gardens Worker to maintain parks, sports fields, gardens and open spaces. You will mow, edge, plant and prune, water beds, weed and collect litter while operating park maintenance equipment.

This is a permanent, full-time role within the Greenspace Services team. The position is outdoor, physically demanding and team-based, with daily safety procedures and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Outdoor maintenance work experience or willingness to perform outdoor labour
• Ability to work in a team and follow safety procedures
• Capable of operating standard park maintenance equipment
• Commitment to quality outcomes for community spaces

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, plant, prune, water garden beds, weed control and litter collection in parks, reserves, gardens and open spaces
• Operate equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers and edgers
• Carry out daily checks and routine maintenance on plant and equipment
• Follow safety procedures and complete required records and forms
• Identify hazards and report them; work with Team Leader to meet standards and schedules
