Job summary

AWX is seeking a hands-on Grounds Maintenance worker to keep parks and public spaces clean, safe and well-presented. You will perform lawn mowing, trimming, hedging and garden upkeep, plus basic site clean-ups and litter collection across Townsville. A current QLD driver’s licence and White Card are required, with on-site outdoor work and teamwork emphasized.

You will operate small landscaping tools and be part of a supportive Parks team focused on community spaces.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland driver’s licence (C class) is required; MR is desirable.
• White Card for construction-site safety.
• Ability to operate basic tools and equipment safely.
• Physical ability to lift, carry and perform outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Grounds maintenance: mowing, whipper-snipping, hedging, pruning, weed control.
• Landscaping: mulching and basic garden upkeep.
• Facility upkeep: litter collection and basic site cleaning.
• Equipment operation: use of small plant tools and landscaping tools.

Our client is a local government organisation focused on maintaining safe, attractive and functional public spaces. Their Parks team supports the upkeep of recreational areas, ensuring they remain clean, accessible and well-presented for the community.

What you'll do

• Grounds Maintenance: Lawn Mowing, Whipper-snipping, hedging, pruning and weed management
• Landscaping: Mulching and basic garden upkeep
• Facility Upkeep: Litter collection, BBQ and public amenity cleaning and basic site clean-ups
• Equipment Operation: Using small plant tools and landscaping tools, Brush cutters, Hedge trimmer, Lawn edgers

What you'll need or Tickets & experience you'll need

• A Current Queensland driver's licence (C class) (MR desirable)
• White Card
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment safely
• Ability to lift, carry and do physical outdoor work
• Pre-employment medical as well as a Drug and Alcohol test
• Ability to pass a National Police Check
• Ability to work well in a team and follow safety procedure
