Job summary

Australia Post on the Gold Coast is seeking an entry‑level Mail Sorting Officer to help prepare mail for delivery and support the daily operations of a busy processing centre. You will assist with letters, parcels and Express Post items, sorting non-machine mail and loading/unloading mail from bags and containers.

You’ll work with modern equipment, collaborate closely with a team, and focus on safety and reliability to keep mail moving efficiently for communities that rely on our services.

Qualifications

• Flexible and willing to work extra hours when needed.
• Detail-focused, reliable and able to handle mail and parcels up to 16kg.
• Communicate clearly, work proactively and support teammates in busy environments.
• Experience with pallet jacks or stackers is helpful but not essential.
• Must be able to work part-time hours - Monday & Tuesdays 3.45pm - 11.36pm

Responsibilities

• Prepare mail for delivery and support Posties to ensure essential service delivery.
• Assist with processing letters, parcels and Express Post items at a Mail & Parcel Processing Centre.
• Sort mail that cannot be machine-processed and help load/unload mail from bags, trays and containers.
• Operate across modern processing equipment and systems, using hand pallet devices and stackers.
• Work safely with teammates to keep mail moving efficiently and reliably.

About the opportunity

As a Mail Sorting Officer, you’ll be based at a Mail & Parcel Processing Centre, supporting the preparation of mail so it’s ready for delivery the next day. Your work includes assisting with the processing of letters, parcels and Express Post items, sorting mail that can’t be machine‑processed and helping load and unload mail from bags, trays and containers.

You’ll work across modern processing equipment and systems, using load‑shifting tools such as hand pallet devices and stackers in close collaboration with your team to keep mail moving safely and efficiently through the facility.

This is a strong entry‑level opportunity to learn how large‑scale operations work, build practical skills and contribute to a trusted service that communities rely on. With a focus on safety, teamwork and reliability, the experience gained in this role can open pathways to future opportunities across processing, delivery and logistics.
