Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a Mail Sorting Officer based at the Mackay Mail Facility. This entry‑level role supports the preparation of mail for next day delivery, sorting letters and parcels and assisting with loading and unloading mail from bags and containers.

You will work with modern processing equipment in a team environment, with safety and reliability as priorities. Flexible hours and opportunities for development are offered in a stable, essential services setting.

About the opportunity

As a Mail Sorting Officer, you’ll be based at a Mail & Parcel Processing Centre, supporting the preparation of mail so it’s ready for delivery the next day. Your work includes assisting with the processing of letters, parcels and Express Post items, sorting mail that can’t be machine‑processed and helping load and unload mail from bags, trays and containers.

You’ll work across modern processing equipment and systems, using load‑shifting tools such as hand pallet devices and stackers in close collaboration with your team to keep mail moving safely and efficiently through the facility.

This is a strong entry‑level opportunity to learn how large‑scale operations work, build practical skills and contribute to a trusted service that communities rely on. With a focus on safety, teamwork and reliability, the experience gained in this role can open pathways to future opportunities across processing, delivery and logistics.
