Job summary

GemLife is seeking an experienced Painter/Decorator to join our construction team at the Burnett Heads project. This hands-on role covers internal and external painting and decorating on residential construction, ensuring high-quality finishes across the project.

You will prepare surfaces, patch and repair, mix and apply paints using brush, roller and spray. Work closely with Site Managers and trades to deliver safe, efficient and on-time results.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent is required.
• Experience painting internal and external surfaces on residential projects.
• Strong surface prep, patching and repair skills.
• Experience with brush, roller and spray techniques.
• Knowledge of paints, coatings and colour matching.
• Ability to read plans, drawings and specifications.
• Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
• Strong time management and collaborative approach.
• White Card is required.

Job description

GemLife is looking for an experienced Painter / Decorator to join our construction team, with opportunities available at our Burnett Heads project.

This is a hands‑on role working across our residential construction project, completing internal and external painting and decorating works to a high standard. You’ll work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and other trades to deliver quality finishes safely and efficiently.

A day in the life...

You’ll prepare internal and external surfaces, complete patching and repairs, mix and match paints and apply a range of coatings and finishes using brush, roller and spray applications. You’ll also identify and rectify finish issues, maintain clean work areas and ensure works are completed within construction timeframes.

Job Duties

• Carry out internal and external painting and decorating work across residential construction projects.
• Prepare, clean, patch and repair surfaces prior to painting activities.
• Apply paints, coatings, stains and finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Mix, select and match colours to achieve the required finish and project specifications.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications to support project requirements.
• Inspect completed work and identify and rectify defects or finish issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Manage workload effectively to meet construction schedules and project deadlines.
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements, policies and procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople and other team members to deliver quality outcomes.

Required Skills

• At least AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in internal and external painting and decorating.
