Job summary

ABC Heavy Engineering is seeking skilled painters to join the Paget depot and field sites in Queensland. Qualifications

• Trade certificate in surface preparation or equivalent (Blaster/Painter).
• HR licence, high risk with EWP and Forklift.
• Trade qualifications in Protective Coatings (ACA, NACE, ICorr, or similar).
• MR or HR class drivers licence.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, meet strict deadlines, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and determine required work.
• Prepare work area with scaffolding and coverings.
• Mix, match, and apply paint; perform touch-ups to specifications.
• Understand and achieve specified dry film thickness and use wets film gauges.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders; clean equipment and work areas.
• Support team to ensure projects meet deadlines and specs.

ABC Heavy Engineering are seeking to employ suitably qualified PAINTERS to join our busy team of professionals working out of our Paget depot and various field sites in Queensland. We are looking for trustworthy individuals with integrity who will bring a positive can-do attitude to the position and to the team. The role includes but is not limited to:

Read blueprints/instructions, examine, and understand surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary

Make work preparation such as scaffolding, covering fixtures

Responsible for mixing, matching, applying paint to various surfaces, and completing touch-ups

Be able to understand and complete works to specifications

Be able to mix correct ratio two-part paint coatings etc

Proper appropriation of consumables and materials to avoid wastage

Select paints, varnishes and stains to various surfaces using brushes, sprays, and rollers

Understand the use of Wet Film Thickness Gauges and be able to achieve specified dry film thickness

Able to carry out minor repairs as and when deemed necessary

Use different tools and brushes to apply paints with attention to details

Be able to work at heights and in confined spaces

Erecting scaffolding and ladders

Cleaning equipment and work areas

Support other team members to ensure completion of projects are on-time and in accordance to specification

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

Trade Certificate Certificate III in Surface Preparation or equivalent (for Blaster/Painters)

High Risk Licence for EWP and/or Forklift

Trade Qualifications in Protective Coatings (ACA, NACE, ICorr, or other trade certs)

HR licence, high risk licence with EWP and Forklift

Drivers Licence (MR or HR class)

Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

Ability to meet strict deadlines

Strong communication skills

Keen attention to detail

Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable

Must have great work ethics
