Job summary

Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking a Paediatric Speech Pathologist to deliver culturally informed speech pathology services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the northern Adelaide metro region. The role is based in Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Health within the NALHN team and runs through to 1 October 2027.

If you are a Speech Pathologist who brings both clinical skill and a commitment to working alongside Aboriginal families, this contract role within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) offers meaningful, community-connected work until 1 October 2027.

What You'll Be Doing

Sitting within the NALHN Watto Purrunna Primary Health Care team, you will deliver paediatric speech pathology services designed to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families across the northern Adelaide metro region.

• Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for paediatric clients within an Aboriginal Health framework
• Design and implement culturally responsive intervention plans in collaboration with families, carers, and the broader multidisciplinary team
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with Aboriginal community members, Elders, and partner agencies to support holistic, family-centred care
• Contribute to service planning and continuous improvement within the Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Health Service

What You'll Bring

• Qualified Speech Pathologist with current Speech Pathology Australia membership eligibility
• Demonstrated experience in paediatric caseloads, including speech, language, fluency, or feeding presentations
• Proven ability to deliver culturally safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across multidisciplinary and community settings
• Familiarity with SA Health or public health service environments is highly regarded
• Current driver's licence suitable for community-based service delivery across northern Adelaide

To be eligible for this position, you must have anAppropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home‑based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north‑eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi‑day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
