Job summary

SA Health is seeking an Allied Health Assistant (AHA3) for the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network at Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide. This temporary full‑time role supports the OASIS unit, delivering direct patient care to older adults awaiting transition to longer-term care, under supervision of Allied Health Professionals.

You will document progress, assist with therapy plans, and help maintain a safe, person-centred care environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
• Experience as Allied Health Assistant in a hospital or acute care setting
• Ability to carry out therapy-related tasks within a clearly defined scope of practice
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with patients from diverse backgrounds
• Familiarity with SA Health clinical documentation standards and patient safety frameworks
• Current immunisation compliance in line with SA Health employment requirements

About the Role

The Older Adults Supportive Interim Stay (OASIS) Unit is a 20-bed service that will provide short-term person-centred care to Older People who are medically and behaviourally stable and awaiting transition to their next care environment. The OASIS Unit will provide a care environment that is more home like when compared to that of a traditional acute or sub-acute ward. It is designed to maximise wellbeing, preserve physical function, support behavioural stability and facilitate timely access to longer term care within a RACH.

Where You'll Make a Difference

Working under the supervision of qualified Allied Health Professionals, you will provide direct patient support across a range of clinical areas. At the AHA3 level, you bring established skills and the confidence to work with greater independence within your defined scope. Key responsibilities include:

What You'll Bring

• A Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent relevant qualification
• Demonstrated experience working as an Allied Health Assistant in a hospital or acute care setting
• The ability to carry out therapy-related tasks within a clearly defined scope of practice
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with patients from diverse backgrounds
• Familiarity with SA Health clinical documentation standards and patient safety frameworks
• Current immunisation compliance in line with SA Health employment requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have a Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent
