Job summary

Hunter New England Health's John Hunter Children's Hospital is seeking a Dietitian Level 3 to provide paediatric nutrition assessment and management across respiratory, neurology, surgery and general paediatrics.

This temporary part-time role (24 hours/week) offers $61.31–$63.29 per hour plus superannuation, salary packaging, and opportunities for clinical supervision and professional development within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Paediatric clinical dietetics experience in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
• Ability to independently manage complex paediatric nutrition cases.
• Experience supervising dietitians and students.
• Experience developing guidelines and quality improvement initiatives.
• Strong family-centred communication with families and clinicians.

Where you'll be working

This position provides nutrition assessment and management to children and young people admitted to John Hunter Children’s Hospital, specifically in the clinical areas of respiratory including cystic fibrosis, neurology, surgery and general paediatrics.

About You

• Clinical experience: Substantial experience in paediatric clinical dietetics, ideally across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Advanced clinical practice: Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex paediatric nutrition cases with multiple comorbidities and competing clinical priorities.
• Leadership: Experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring junior dietitians and students, and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
• Service development: Evidence of developing clinical guidelines, implementing quality improvement initiatives, auditing practice, and improving patient outcomes.
• Communication: Excellent family-centred communication skills, including the ability to explain complex nutrition recommendations to parents, carers and multidisciplinary clinicians.

Requirements

Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
