Job summary

J.L.Lennard Pty Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the Packaging Equipment Service Team in Sydney. You will install, test, commission and maintain packaging machinery such as flow wrappers, bag makers and cartoners as well as related hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

You will prepare drawings, assist with integration on customer lines and coordinate on-site tests, performing data analysis and reporting results to engineers and customers.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Practical experience installing, commissioning, testing, maintaining or repairing industrial machinery.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications and manuals.
• Strong fault-finding, organisational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight travel.
• Experience with packaging equipment in food, beverage or pharmaceutical industries is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings, installation plans, layouts and diagrams for packaging machinery and mechanical modifications.
• Assist with design, adaptation and integration of mechanical equipment into customers’ production lines.
• Select tools, components and instrumentation for installation, testing and maintenance.
• Assemble and install mechanical assemblies, machine controls and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Coordinate tests and validation at workshop and customer sites.
• Analyse data, perform calculations and document test results and improvements.
• Maintain records and communicate findings to engineers and customers.
• Oversee inspections and preventative maintenance with site personnel.
