Job summary

Australia's Oyster Coast in Merimbula invites two ocean-minded individuals to join a casual, temporary team for an oyster farming season. The role combines land-based tasks such as grading, packing, and equipment maintenance with on-water duties like seeding, harvesting, and vessel handling.

No prior expertise required, but enthusiasm for the marine environment is essential. A drivers licence is essential for the commute.

Calling all ocean lovers with hands-on skills! We're in search of 2 people with a strong connection to the marine environment to assist with current workload. This is a casual role expected to last 3 months.

ABOUT THE JOB

Your work activities will include:

Land-based activities

• Grading and preparation of oysters for market/transport.
• Stripping oyster slats.
• Loading/unloading oyster punts.
• Packing, constructing baskets and oyster racking.
• Operating and maintaining farm mechanical equipment.
• Facility maintenance and cleaning the farm shed.

On-water activities

• Cultivating, seeding and harvesting oysters.
• Aquaculture and oyster husbandry.
• Maintaining oyster leases, baskets and other infrastructure.
• Vessel handling, maintenance and deck duties.
