Job summary

Australia’s Oyster Coast in Merimbula is seeking a hands-on, entry-level candidate for a full-time oyster farming role on land and water. Work spans grading, packing, vehicle and boat handling, and maintenance, in a coastal setting.

Applicants should be prepared for outdoor work in varied weather and have a strong connection to the marine environment. Permanent rights to work in Australia are required and drivers licences are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Permanent rights to work in Australia required.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience in marine farming or related farming is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Land-based activities: Grading and preparation of oysters for market/transport; Stripping oyster slats; Loading/unloading oyster punts; Packing, constructing baskets and oyster racking; Operating and maintaining farm mechanical equipment; Facility maintenance and cleaning the farm shed.
• On-water activities: Cultivating, seeding and harvesting oysters; Aquaculture and oyster husbandry; Maintaining oyster leases, baskets and other infrastructure; Vessel handling, maintenance and deck duties.

Calling all ocean lovers with hands-on skills! We’re in search of a person with a strong connection to the marine environment to assist with current workload. This is a full time role.

ABOUT THE JOB

Your work activities will include:

Land-based activities:

• Grading and preparation of oysters for market/transport.
• Stripping oyster slats.
• Loading/unloading oyster punts.
• Packing, constructing baskets and oyster racking.
• Operating and maintaining farm mechanical equipment.
• Facility maintenance and cleaning the farm shed.

On-water activities:
