Job summary

Westside Christian College in Ipswich is seeking an Educational Leader/2IC for Outside Hours School Care, reporting to the OSHC Coordinator, with 38 hours per week across five days during term time and vacation periods. Ideally commencing 30th November 2026.

Training will be provided with a one-to-one leader. The Educational Leader/2IC will lead high-quality programs, mentor OSHC Educators in MTOP 2.0, update the Quality Improvement Plan, and ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework

Qualifications

• MTOP 2.0 and NQF knowledge required.
• Experience leading OSHC/educational leadership.
• Senior First Aid including asthma and anaphylaxis management, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with creating, implementing, delivering and critically reflecting on high-quality educational programs for our Outside Hours School Care service.
• Mentoring, inspiring and supporting OSHC Educators in their knowledge of the My Time Our Place 2.0 pedagogy, and the accompanying cycle of programming and planning.
• Working as part of the OSHC leadership team, performing various administration tasks, updating the Service's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) on a regular basis. The Educational Leader/2IC is also responsible for ensuring that our Service's policies, procedures and practices remain current with the National Quality Framework, and national law and regulation changes.
• Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with families, parents, carers and staff in the wider College community.
• Providing care to all children in our Service in alignment with the College's Christian ethos and CLASS Values; and ensuring their safety, needs and interests are catered for as part of the ongoing cycle of programming and planning.
• Assume the roles and responsibilities of the Coordinator in overseeing the running of the Service, in the absence of the Coordinator.

Job description

Our OSHC is located on the Primary Campus and operates five days per week and during school vacation periods.

This position reports directly to the OSHC Coordinator and works closely with a Third-in-Charge position. This is a Full Time Permanent role, 38 hours per week, 5 days per week during school terms and vacation care periods. Ideally commencing from 30th November 2026. Training will be provided with a one to one leader.

The OSHC Educational Leader/2IC is responsible for:

Requirements of the position

The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic and engaging approach, with the ability to form positive relationships with students and their families, and other staff.

You will need to meet the qualification requirements for assisting in coordinating an OSHC service, being the completion of at least two years’ study in a recognised field. For the full list of ACECQA recognised qualifications in Queensland, please visit www.acecqa.gov.au.

In addition to this, you will have:

• A comprehensive understanding of My Time, Our Place 2.0 and the National Quality Framework as well as relevant National Laws, Regulations and contemporary practices.
• A strong knowledge of child development, including an understanding of the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and academic needs of children aged from Prep to Year 6.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and a respectful approach in developing relationships with students, families, and other staff.
• Experience in leading, inspiring and supporting staff in an educational leadership role within an OSHC setting.
• Strong program planning and implementation skills.
• Sound oral and written communication skills.
• Sound ICT skills across a range of platforms.
• A fun and positive attitude.
• Senior First Aid (including asthma and anaphylaxis management), or willingness to obtain these
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be eligible to obtain prior to commencing with the College.

Position hours and salary

This position is full-time and encompasses a mix of time with the children and time for program development and administrative tasks for the Service. The final arrangement of hours will be discussed with the successful applicant, however it is expected that some days of work will include split shifts, given the nature of the OSHC program operating hours both before and after school.

The salary for this position will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant but will be in line with the College's Enterprise Agreement.
