Job summary

Stahmann Webster seeks an Orchard Manager to lead all aspects of production, from horticultural operations to on-farm processing and resource management. You will work with the technical team to deliver the orchard strategy, manage budgets and KPIs, and ensure efficient, safe site operations.

The role requires a strong background in permanent tree crops, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive, analytical approach. This is a full-time position based on-site in Queensland, Australia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing a horticultural operation or similar.
• Progressive mindset to continually question, trial and evaluate all areas of operation.
• Deep understanding and interest in the technical aspects of permanent tree crops.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• High degree of computer literacy.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Demonstrated understanding of WH&S practices.
• Understanding of food safety and quality compliance systems including HACCP, GMP, and relevant legislative standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the orchard strategy in collaboration with the technical team.
• Develop and manage orchard capital and operational budgets, KPIs, and provide regular reporting.
• Ensure assets are used to maximise efficiency and sustainability.
• Project manage on-farm improvement initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, guide and develop staff to grow knowledge and skills.
• Provide a safe working site and work practices.
• Secure, train and manage all contractors on site.
• Continuously monitor and execute irrigation schedules for tree health.
• Plan and oversee maintenance to plant and equipment with minimal downtime.

Job description

The Orchard Manager is responsible for managing all areas of production including horticultural operations, harvesting, on-farm processing and management of resources. This role is pivotal to deliver on the Stahmann Webster Strategy to maximise production and quality of its products.

Key responsibilities

Work with the technical team to develop and deliver on the orchard strategy

Assist with the development and management of orchard capital and operational budgets, KPI's and provide regular reporting against these metrics

Ensure all assets are utilised to maximise efficiency and sustainability

Project management of on-farm improvement initiatives

Manage, mentor, guide and develop staff to ensure knowledge and skill continues to grow within Stahmann Webster

Provide a safe working site and work practices

Securing, training and management of all contractors operating on site

Continuously monitor and execute irrigation schedules to ensure optimum tree health

Plan and oversee the maintenance to all plant and equipment with minimal downtime

About you
