Job summary

Stahmann Webster is seeking an Orchard Supervisor in Queensland, Australia. You will supervise and train staff, oversee daily farming operations and ensure WH&S compliance while performing hands-on field work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a large-scale Orchard or Station.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role in horticulture.
• A valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to participate in relevant training courses.
• Ability to foster relationships.
• Ability to work shift work, weekends and be on call during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff and contractors ensuring schedules meet budgets and guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with WH&S and quality standards.
• Monitor efficiency targets and adherence to procedures.
• Ensure inductions are completed and adhered to.
• Hands-on involvement in day-to-day farming operations including field work.
• Deliver toolbox talks to staff as required.
• Monitor irrigation and oversee the irrigation schedule with the Orchard Manager and irrigation staff.
• Maintain accurate farming records and assist with admin duties including irrigation records and spray diaries.
• Report any unsafe work practices, damages to plant, tools or equipment, and any incident, accident or near miss.
• Demonstrate a high-level understanding of WH&S practices and lead by example.

The Orchard Supervisor reports directly to the Orchard Manager and supports the overall supervision of staff and daily farming operations. A key focus of this role is ensuring adherence to WH&S practices. This is a hands-on position that involves active field work and engagement as well as administrative duties when required.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all aspects of WH&S and quality standards
• Monitor efficiency targets are being met and operational procedures are being adhered to
• Ensure inductions are completed and being adhered to
